In a two-team competition in Morris, IL., the Saint Xavier men’s golf team came out on top over Trinity Christian College to be named winners of the Cal Sag Cup!

A year ago the Cougars lost the same competition against Trinity Christian;, this year’s win proving to be a satisfying victory.

Three of the five SXU golfers finished up on their TCC opponents, with junior Brendan Patton and freshman Dan Stood tying theirs. Patton and Stood both posted scores of 1 ½.

The two other freshmen who competed for SXU golfed strong games. Ayden Dyson shot ½ and finished two-up, while Joey Glennon finished three-up on his challenger.

Senior Miguel Madrigal was one-up after shooting a one on The Creek at Morris Country Club.

This was SXU’s second first-place finish in a row; their last one coming on April 9 at the St. Francis Invite when they beat out seven other teams.

They’re back in action in Wilmington, IL., on April 29 and 30 for the CCAC Men’s Golf Championships at Cinder Ridge. Tee time for both days is 9:00 a.m.
