Men’s Basketball team falls again

Basketball

The 3-6 Men’s basketball team had their hands full as they faced up against the 5-5 Holy Cross College. Coming off a loss to Robert Morris University, the Cougars were looking to come out the gates strong with a win to regain lost momentum.

Unfortunately, this was not the case as SXU lost to Holy Cross 93-62. The 31-point loss came as no surprise as Holy Cross came away with a 52-31 lead after the first half. This lead was brought on by some phenomenal offense as Holy Cross hit 18 of their 32 shots for an astonishing 52% shooting strip. Scoring was not SXU’s thing in this game though as they only shot 39% from the field and a pitiful 18% shooting clip form the 3-point range. Sophomore guard Derek Jeter had a decent game. He tallied 14-points, 6 rebounds, and a block. Junior Niko Cahue also had an alright game as he added in 11-points, 3 rebounds and a block. The men’s team definitely has to get their act together. The season is still young so they need to turn around the season before it’s too late.

The men return to action on December 3rd in a conference away game at Governors State University. For a recap of that game and many others keep it locked here at the Xavierite.
