The Louisville Cardinals have won the NCAA National Championship after coming into the tournament as the overall No. 1 seed. The Cardinals headed by Coach Rick Pitino came out of the Big East and defeated some tough competition en route to the National Championship.
Louisville defeated the Michigan University Wolverines in the NCAA Championship, 82-76 to claim the title and Louisville had a tough road to the title which included wins over NC A & T, Colorado State, Oregon, Duke, Wichita State University and Michigan in the championship game. Michigan found its way into the big dance by beating South Dakota State, VCU, Kansas, Florida and Syracuse.
Following the big win, Michigan guard/forward Luke Hancock won Most Outstanding player after coming off the bench and scoring 22 points in 30 minutes of action. Peyton Siva and Chane Behanan recorded 18 and 15 points, respectively.
Michigan was led by star player Trey Burke who scored a game-high 24 points, but early foul trouble limited him as he only played 26 minutes. Tim Hardaway Jr. and Glenn Robinson III each posted 12 points in the contest for Michigan.
Michigan made a great run to the NCAA National Championship, but came up just short in their attempt for greatness this season. Louisville may have been propelled to the victories this postseason following the gruesome injury to Kevin Ware in the game against Duke in the Elite Eight.
Rick Pitino had a tremendous week, in addition to winning the NCAA National Championship, he was also one of the inductees into the 2013 NBA Hall of Fame and adds to his accolade list for this season. Following the game, Ware was the last person to cut the net down for Louisville; a great scene!
Congratulations to Louisville for winning the NCAA National Championship!
