Dear Lauren,
I am having a hard time balancing school, work, classes, and a social life. What can I do to make the most of my time without anything important having to suffer for it?
Sincerely,
Too Darn Busy
Dear Busy,
Welcome to college. Let me explain my own situation to you and let you know how I deal with it. Hopefully that will help you.
I only take four classes a semester, because I know if I took anymore, I wold fall behind. Besides classes, I work retail about 20 hours a week.
I also have a radio show for three hours on Tuesday nights, and I run a section for the Xavierite. I also am vice president of a student organization.
On top of that, I have a boyfriend that needs my attention and also a very needy dog.
I remedy this bad situation by wisely managing my time. Instead of sitting on Facebook between classes, I work on homework or the Xavierite. Sometimes I stay up late after work to finish homework or sometimes I just wake up early the next day.
I also take time out of my schedule to spend time with my loved ones, because personal relationships are very important to keep your sanity.
Sure, sometimes I feel overloaded and I just stop and don’t do anything for a day, but then I feel recharged.
All I can really recommend is that you manage your time the best way you can.
Take less Internet cat picture breaks, and spend more time getting things done that you need to.
I know this is a hard thing to do in college, but someday it will be worth it. I wish you the best of luck and remember to listen to Lauren!
