Toy story fans woke up to a pleasant surprise from Disney’s Pixar studios this past Wednesday morning. The teaser trailer for the new Buzz Light movie titled, “Lightyear” starring Chris Evans, made its rounds on social media, and we could not be more excited about this character coming to life. Being released in the summer of 2022, the trailer showed us a glimpse of what we could expect from Buzz Lightyear’s trip into space.
At the very beginning of the trailer, we see Lightyear suiting up in his iconic space ranger costume. In the background, we hear a countdown in which Buzz enters a spaceship and is lifted off into the air. After the trailer was released, social media lit up with many people sharing their genuine happiness about the unexpected trailer, but along with that happiness came many questions in which a lot of people admitted that they did not know what to expect from the film, so here are 3 things we would love to see in the “Lightyear” movie.
1. Cameos
It is no secret that for many of us, the “Toy Story” series is our childhood, so seeing the whole gang together, or at least making an appearance in the film, would leave us on cloud 9. It would be interesting to see how the non-toy versions of other characters like Andy, Woody, and Jessie would play in the storyline. Overall, there is no doubt that a reunion would be amazing.
2. Buzz Lightyear’s family background
In this “Lightyear” movie, we already know that we can expect an origin story of Buzz’s time in space and how he ended up there, but what would make the movie a lot better, is to see Buzz as a “child”. We all knew Buzz as the courageous space ranger, but it would be great for us viewers to learn about who Buzz was in his past life.
3. Where “Lightyear” will fit in the “Toy Story” timeline.
As we all know, “Toy Story” has been around for over 25 years. Making its first appearance in 1995, it quickly became a childhood favorite as the series produced more movies over the years. One question we all may be wondering is how will Buzz’s story fit into the “Toy Story” timeline? Will this take place before or after Buzz finds his way to Andy and the rest of the toy crew? Or will this be a separate movie with no toy story connections? So many questions are in the air after the trailer’s release, and hopefully the movie will answer them all.
For all the “Toy Story” fans that have had a special connection with the animated series since childhood, it is great to see that the series is making a return to the big screen. Although it may not be in the way we would’ve wanted it to be, there is no denying that this film will take us on a walk down memory lane.
