Letter from the Provost and Deans to the Students

Dear Students,

This fall Saint Xavier University will introduce an online course evaluation system that will replace paper evaluations.  This new technology will give administrators and faculty more sophisticated tools to gather, analyze, and use student feedback for the purpose of improving instructional methods and student success.

When your surveys open, you will receive an e-mail from SXU Course Evaluation.  You will receive one e-mail for each class in which you are enrolled, and each e-mail will contain a link to all of your surveys.  If you click the link, using either a desktop, laptop, tablet, or smart phone, you will be taken directly to the surveys.  You can also access the surveys through a link to EvaluationKit User Access, located in the Tools menu on MyCourses, but we recommend the e-mail link.  Your instructors may choose to administer the surveys in class, but you will be able to complete the survey at any time while it remains open.  During that time, you will receive reminder e-mails from SXU Course Evaluation if you have yet to complete the surveys.

The university deeply values your assistance in providing this important feedback.  Student responses are essential tools for understanding both your learning and your experiences in the classroom.  Consequently, the anonymity of student responses is of paramount importance to the university.  To protect students’ anonymity, individual student responses are not reported by the software and faculty members cannot access the results until the semester has concluded.  Student responses therefore will not influence faculty grades.

Thank you for your help in making this new system a success for both faculty and students.

Sincerely,

Paul L. DeVito, Provost, Saint Xavier University

Kathy Alaimo, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences

John Eber, Dean of the Graham School of Business

Gloria Jacobson, Dean of the School of Nursing

Beverly Gulley, Dean of the School of Education
