There has been talk about a reboot being in the works for a while now, but this week, the premiere date was released to the public. The movie will hit theaters in May of 2022.
Although reboots are not the best Hollywood has to offer, this movie really made its mark on the world. There have been millions of graduation caps and speeches inspired by this film and it has encouraged women to embrace their feminine side, and, at the same time, show the world they have more to offer than their looks. It is an extremely quotable and memorable film that shaped the early 2000s. It will be interesting to see how the movie recreates that same magic from the first film, as well as adding cases that are relevant to current day. Also, it is also going to be exciting to see where all the characters are in their life and how much they have accomplished over the years.
There are many current political and pop culture events that were not even relevant in the early 2000s. These chaotic times in politics and how social media has created a platform for all different kinds of people will be important aspects to incorporate in the newest film. I think that reboots lack creativity and originality, but this film had a long-lasting impact on many young people, so to see a whole new generation become inspired as well, it will definitely be special to see. I know me and my family are obsessed with the film and watch it every time it is on television. I have memorized the most important lines of the film, and it inspired me to want to pursue higher education.
When people doubted Elle Woods, she buckled down and studied hard to prove them all wrong. She wanted to be seen as more than a pretty sorority girl, yet she did not sacrifice her flair or femininity for the world to take her seriously. Woods took advantage of the opportunities she had and she also stood true to her values, and, most importantly, she always stayed true to herself. There have been sequels in the past, but I think this one will have a lot more passion involved and a more meaningful storyline to write about for viewers. I hope that this reboot film makes me eat my words about the concept of reboots as a whole and Elle Woods takes the world by storm once again.
