Fri, April 1st
It’s the 8th meet for the men and women’s track team hosted by Washington University in St. Louis Missouri.

Women
It was a great day for the SXU women’s team especially for those who competed in the 5k race. Starting off, Sophomore Ellie Willging finished 15 out of 104 other runners, and finished with a personal best.

Not only that, but she also broke the school record in the 5k finishing with a time of 17:36.30; a time classified as “A” level by the NAIA commission. Despite taking place on April 1st, Willging established herself as no joke, and a competitor to be taken serious at future events.

Willging wasn’t the only one who enjoyed success at this event, junior Nicole Watkins and freshman Deandrea Stokes both set personal best. Watkins finished 42nd with a time of 18:29.13, while Stokes finished 77th with a time of 19:3.79. Overall, a great performance by the women’s track team.

Men
The men’s team also enjoyed some success in the 5k race. Junior Abel Hernandez finished 21 out of 136 total runners. Hernandez ran an amazing time of 15:01.25 Not too far behind him was freshman Alan Guzman whom finished 58th, and ran a time of 15:03.36.

Junior Alexander Ray finished with a time of 16:31.09 good enough to land him in 127th place, and not too far behind him was freshman Ivan Diaz who finished 135th with a time of 17:59.44. Let’s continue to show both are men and women’s track team some support, and keep it locked here at The Xavierite for more sports updates!
