Praise the gods of music, because City and Colour is releasing a new album this June! Please excuse me while I scream with pure elation. City and Colour’s newest album, The Hurry and the Harm will be released on June 4th, and I cannot wait.
What? You have never heard of City and Colour? Well, that is a shame, because lead singer, Dallas Green, has the voice of an angel. His songs are full of folk, melody, sugar, and spice, and everything nice. His songs are easy on the ears and the lyrics are just phenomenal.
If you have never heard any of his old stuff, you should check out his second album, Bring Me Your Love. That album had so many excellent songs. Start off with “Sleeping Sickness” and “The Girl”, they are definitely my top favorites from that release, although I love every song off this album.
If, I am sorry, WHEN, you fall in love with that album, you can take a sneak peek at two songs off of the upcoming album, The Hurry and the Harm. The first song “Thirst”, is a perfect example of how Dallas Green and put his smooth voice up against and gritty sounding background and it still sounds perfect. This song can be downloaded from iTunes, or you can give it a listen on Spotify for free. The second preview song, “of space and time”, just gives me butterflies. It is classic Dallas Green. He is backed up by an acoustic guitar in this one, and does have the grit of the other song.
You know, Dallas is like that boy with the beautiful voice that serenades all the girls and is a joy to be around…and to look at. Hopefully, I will get my chance to see him again at the Riviera in Chicago on October 30th!
