Calling all Silk Sonic fans! Bruno Mars & Anderson. Paak has finally announced their album release date, and we couldn’t be happier! On Nov. 6, the soulful duo announced on Twitter that their long-awaited joint album will be released on Nov. 12. The announcement comes months after the group released two hit singles “Leave the Door Open”, which topped Billboard Hot 100 Charts, and “Skate”.
The announcement garnered over 20,000 likes on Twitter and over 110,000 on Instagram. Mars and Paak also blessed fans with the album tracklist. “An Evening with Silk Sonic” will feature songs such as “Silk Sonic Intro”, “Fly as Me”, “Put on a Smile”, “777”, and much more! Although fans were extremely grateful for the upcoming release, it didn’t stop them from showcasing their disappointment about the project only having nine songs.
Friday, (11/5/21) Silk Sonic released their third single off the album called “Smokin’ Out the Window”. The 70s impacted video features Paak and Mars riding down a street in a Cadillac while singing their hearts out. According to Anderson. Paak, Silk Sonic first came to life when he and Bruno were in a studio in Germany. Bruno put a cigarette out on his shoulder, and Anderson asked Bruno was he “crazy”? Bruno then replied, “you’re right, and I need someone just as crazy as I am”. Anderson agreed, and the rest was history. However, that was over 5 years ago! We’ll never know why the release of “Leave The Door Open” took a few years, but hey, we’re not complaining.
Silk Sonic made their worldwide debut with the single, which debuted at number 4 on the Billboard hot 100, with 27,000 pure downloads, and 23 million radio impressions in its first week. Released on Mar. 1, “Leave the Door Open” became both Bruno and Anderson’s highest-charting song on the Billboard.
After the success of their first single, Silk Sonic then went on to release their second single titled “Skate” which gave the duo another Billboard top 10 single, debuting at number 4, the same as their first. After their two singles had the music industry on the edge of their seats, fans began to speculate when the duo would release their album. However, just as they lost hope, Silk Sonic came through!
Many would argue that Silk Sonic’s artistry is different from the new generation of R&B. They’re bringing back the soulful 70s sound with a mixture of each of their personalities. Silk Sonic is expected to be nominated for best group at next year’s Grammy Awards.
