On Saturday, the men’s and women’s track and field team in the Cougar Invitational at Concordia University in River Forest, IL. Both the men and women did not have a great overall meet despite some great individual performances.

In the women’s 200 meter dash, freshman Rachal Brooks finished in 14th place with a time of 27.07. Sophomore Rachel Koronkiewicz placed in 23rd with a time of 28.12.

In the women’s 400 meter dash, Brooks, once again, shined for Saint Xavier when she finished in third place with a time of 1:00.53.

Koronkiewicz finished in 16th in this event with a time of 1:04.96. Basketball star Morgan Stuut also raced in the meet, placing in 21st in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:05.74. In the women’s 1500 meter run, sophomore Nicole Watkins placed in 11th with 5:01.12.

In the women’s 3000 meter run, freshman Jocelyn Camacho finished in 23rd place with a time of 12:21.29. In the women’s 5000 meter run, sophomore Courtney Correa placed in sixth with a time of 19:56.82.

In the men’s 100 meter dash, five Cougars placed in the top 40 with freshman Ian Hollendonner leading the way with a time of 11.38 to place in 13th. Senior Tyler Hoeg finished right behind him with a time of 11.40 to place in 15th. Junior Ben Tracy finished in 25th place with a time of 11.67.

Freshmen Ryan Keating and Leon Reid finished in 35th place and 38th place respectively with a time of 12.14 for the former and 12.41 for the latter. Freshman Keith Kyonn starred in the men’s 200 meter dash, finishing the race with a time of 22.28 to place in third.

Tracy finished in 33rd place with a time of 23.97. Sophomore Al Bernal placed in 43rd with a time of 24.63. Senior John Frederickson finished in 47th place with a time of 24.92, while Keating finished with a time of 24.94 to place in 48th. Reid finished in 55th place with a time of 25.32.

In the men’s 400 meter dash, junior Rexford Wiafe placed in sixth with a time of 51.32. Bernal placed in 19th in this event with a time of 54.37 and Frederickson placed in 25th with a time of 56.17.

Senior Brian Corcoran had a great performance, finishing first in the men’s 1500 meter run with a time of 3:58.26. Senior Kyle Counter placed in 14th with a time of 4:16.46. Sophomore Alexander Ray placed in 22nd with a time of 4:19.92.

In the men’s 4×100 relay, Saint Xavier would do well placing in third with a time of 42.93. They did even better in the men’s 4×400 relay, placing in first with a time of 3:26.72.

In the men’s shot put, freshman Anthony Kowalczyk had a good outing, placing in eighth with a distance of 12.91m. Freshman Josh Wallick finished in 16th place with a distance of 11.63m.

In the men’s discus throw, Kowalczyk would place in 10th with a distance of 38.39m, while Wallick finished in 14th with a distance of 35.66m.

Despite the great individual performances by the athletes, St. Xavier’s teams would not fare well. The women placed in 13th out of 16 schools while the men would place in 10th out of 16 schools.
