Game of Thrones is the epic fantasy series based on the bestselling book series by George R.R. Martin, brought to the screens on HBO by creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. This show has unique background music that is beautifully composed by German composer Ramin Djawadi, who won an Emmy Award on September 10, 2018, for his work on all seven seasons.
On Saturday, October 6, 2018, the “Game of Thrones” orchestra and choir performed at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont.
The concert included footage from all seven seasons on a big screen, as well as custom stage design, and large-scale visuals specifically produced for the tour. The story theme contains fantasy elements, such as swordplay, magic, and fantastical creatures like dragons, werewolves, giants, and dwarfs. There was music, there was a tree, there was fire, and there was the dragon, while clips played on the screen, LED telescoping and wall screens, and special 3D designs rose from the stage floor.
The idea of this concert was to get fans to feel as if they were really there with the characters.
They heard and watched the musicians play, taking the audience back to the show. Fans can get a really nice look back at past seasons, while those who never watched the show can get a great summary.
The concert contained multiple stages, each named after different locations from the world of Game of Thrones. They featured Djawadi as conductor with the orchestra and choir. There is also a runway between the two main stages, doubling as a location.
The opening starts with strings in minor that switch to major. The main instrument is a solo cello followed by a solo violin an octave above it. Then, the melody is the full orchestra with all violins. The instruments used throughout are mostly taiko drums, brass instruments, harp, and several percussion instruments. Sometimes they use electronic organs, piano, and guitar.
The concert begins with the opening theme song and follows with:

This has been the second time Ramin Djawadi performed in Chicago. He stated, “It’s unbelievable to actually see the stage in front of me. I’m blown away every time I walk into the rehearsal space.”
In a recent interview with Djawadi, he states,“Bringing the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience to audiences earlier this year was a dream come true,”
Djawadi spoke proudly of his work, saying, “The scale and spectacle of the production brought the world of Westeros to life in a truly immersive fashion, and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to share the experience with fans not only in North America again, but also to cross the narrow sea for the first time and bring the show to Europe.”
