Fun Festivities for the Fall

Fall is finally here and that means many of your favorite activities and events are back for you to enjoy. Here are some places that you might want to check out this season if you have not already.

This is Six Flags slogan for their annual Fright Fest, and you better believe that the monsters and zombies will be scaring you as try to make your way through the park. Enjoy your favorite rides, attractions, shows and more during the day and into the night. Who knows, maybe you will be joined by some “unwanted” guests on the rides.

Bengtson’s Pumpkin Fest – Nothing says “Fall” like a trip to the pumpkin patch. Bengtson’s Pumpkin Fest, located in Homer Glen, offers many fun activities for everyone. The fest includes numerous attractions, food vendors and of course, a pumpkin patch. For some out of the ordinary entertainment, you can ride a camel, watch a pig race, or view the fest’s famous pumpkin chucker launch pumpkins into the air. Want more information about the fest? County Line Orchard – If you are looking for a little day-trip, look no further then County Line Orchard. The orchard is located in Hobart, Indiana and has various things to do. You can pick some apples or pumpkins in the orchard/patch, walk through a sunflower field, or enjoy a hayride. Feeling a little tired from walking around? Stop in the “Big Barn” for treats including their famous apple cider and apple cider donuts, or browse around the numerous vendors.

Graceland Cemetery – In the mood for some haunted history? Take a tour of Graceland Cemetery with the Chicago History Museum. During this tour, you will visit the graves of some well-known Chicago figures which include: Marshall Field, George Pullman, Louis Sullivan, Potter and Bertha Palmer, and many more. Historian Al Walavich will be your tour guide as you make your way around one of the most famous cemeteries in the country. Dates and times for the tour can be found on the museum’s website and tickets are $25 for non-members, $20 for members.
