Many times we forget that the Shannon center has classes that are free and we miss out. I finally had the time this semester to go and check them all out. I hope you take advantage of what is offered at the Shannon center since it’s free.
There are classes during the week and over the weekend. There are different times as well which can be more convenient. Zumba was created by the choreographer and fitness instructor Alberto “Beto” Perez in the mid-1990s.
Zumba is a mix of salsa and merengue, hip hop and pop requiring movement and body workouts on your feet. It is active throughout and sometimes hard to follow, but if you consistently go you will get the hang of it. I’ve been going for a couple of months now and I’m a lot better than the first time I went, it takes determination and control of your body movements.
The best thing to do is to grab a friend and go. It’s okay there is no sign in sheet and you don’t have to present yourself.
You show up to find a spot and the instructor will take it from there. My experience is always the same I always walk out with sore muscles. I have seen results in my body such as weight loss and muscle gain. Many get the wrong idea of yoga some think it is easy and a waste of time. Which is not true yoga is one of the most challenging classes I’ve been to.
I’ve seen strong men go to class and weren’t able to do the posses. It’s about the strength in your body and mind. It’s a pose that strengthens posture and releasing positive vibes. Yoga is a great way to de-stress and get your mind ready for finals.
There is still some time to go and check it out. Or if you miss it you can check it next semester. Yoga for beginners is different from the other yoga since this is more of an introductory class. The posses are different from the other yoga class it tends to get more difficult.
It is good if you want to get a feel of what you’re doing and what yoga is all about. It is a great way to understand what strengths and what parts of the body you’ll be working on. Be part of an intense training program, Bootcamp classes run throughout the week.
The class addresses all muscle groups over the course of the week, using a variety of different exercises including weight training. The class is an hour-long session of strength training and calisthenics using kettlebells, dumbbells, barbells, battling ropes, and your own body weight.
Boot camps are usually run by breaking the class up into small groups. A variety of different exercises are performed at different stations to music guaranteed to get you through the workout. Boot camps are designed to effectively allow the body to build muscle and burn calories and fat.
I hope you take the time and check out at least one of the classes at the Shannon Center. The classes are free and you can go whenever you’d like. If you don’t like the class you don’t have to return, no contract or anything like that is necessary.
