Dear SXU Peeps,

Oh Saint Xavier University, I sit here writing this letter in remembrance of my experience here at Xavs. I originally did not start my college career here but I am glad I finished it here. I have gathered much knowledge in my time at SXU both academically and in my growth as a human being. It is not the school I will miss as much as the community and the people I have met.

It didn’t matter who it was. I seemed to find people inspiring me to take on new experiences and new challenges. Awakenings is a retreat offered by campus ministry to students and I was so glad to be apart of it as words cannot describe the positivity and joy it evokes in you. I was inspired at first by my girlfriend/love of my life to go and then eventually inspired by my roommate.

It was an amazing weekend and I will miss the people I was fortunate enough to share that experience with and also the two people who inspired me most to go. I will miss the professors that taught me so much about communication and especially my colleagues at The Xavierite. I think everyone knows my love of sports and I loved writing for sports at The Xavierite my senior year because my dream is to be sportswriter. I will miss the entertaining times we had in The Xavierite office especially on press night and all the conversations we had that made being there so much fun.

I loved spending time with my friends at SXU from random dance parties to wild jokes to bonding over the terribleness that is Chartwells’ food. The individuals I got close to here supported me to through my ups and downs. Whether it was my girlfriend taking care of me after food poisoning or my suitemate driving me to the DMV at seven in the morning, I felt support everyday.

I enjoyed my conversations with Rae Joyce, my advising appointments with Dr. Sternberg, and the advice about my career I received from Peter Kreten. Xavs wasn’t perfect but for about 32 months out of the past three years it was my home and for better or worse I will miss every moment being an SXU Cougar.
