Men’s CC

On Friday, Sept. 26, the Saint Xavier men’s cross country team competed at the College of Du Page Invite.

Only four Cougars were able to compete in this invitational that consisted of 189 competitors. Unfortunately, with that low number, Saint Xavier was not allowed to compete as a team; only as individual runners.

Because of this, the Men’s Cross Country team stood by and watched while UIC won with a pair of runners taking first and second place.

Among the Cougars competing, junior Janis Pastars led the way for Saint Xavier. This has become routine for Pastars who has taken the title of Token SXU Men’s CC Runner.

He finished in fourth place out of the 189 competitors with a time of 26:04.04. Following Pastars was senior Kyle Counter in 38th place with a time of 27:36.77.

Junior Victor Solis finished in 64th place with a time of 28:23.35. The final Cougar to cross the finish line was sophomore Alex Ray. Ray finished in 89th place with a time of 29:21.05.

The next stop is South Bend, Indiana where they will compete in the Bethel College Invite at Saint Patrick’s Park.

Women’s CC

Along with the men, the Saint Xavier women’s cross country team competed at the College of Du Page invite. The women placed 10th overall as a team.

Out of 213 runners, sophomore Nicole Watkins led the way for the Cougars finishing in 34th place with a time of 19:53.36.

Junior Ann Kolker finished second for the Cougars and 51st overall with a time of 20:11.53.

Finishing behind Kolker was freshman Alondra Delfin in 58th place with a time of 20:22:11.

Crossing the finish line fourth for the Cougars was Courtney Correa in 71st overall with a time of 20:36.54.

Jocelyn Camacho finished in 135th place with a time of 22:34.76.

Diondria Woodhouse placed 167th with a time of 24:02.09.

Up next for the Cougars is the Bethel College Invite at Saint Patrick’s Park on Oct. 16.
