Dear Students:

Welcome to Saint Xavier University!

Since 1846, our Catholic, Mercy institution has perpetuated the notable legacy of our founding Sisters of Mercy, and together as a community, we continue to carry forward their noble values. Throughout your college experience, you will have rich opportunities to grow and give to your communities through service-learning projects that will enrich your lives and help you grow as an advocate for positive change.

Known for its affordability and academic excellence, SXU is consistently recognized among the best in the Midwest by U.S. News & World Report, Colleges of Distinction, Forbes, and more. Dozens of diverse majors, minors, interrelated tracks, and preparation plans will provide you with limitless opportunities, and supportive staff and dedicated faculty will guide you every step of the way. With small class sizes allowing for individual attention, close peer camaraderie, high-impact, hands-on learning opportunities, and a a variety of student resources, Saint Xavier will help you develop and refine your skills, build your character, and prepare you for success in a meaningful career.

As you get started on your academic journey, take advantage of all that SXU has to offer. Pursue your passion and make lifelong friends by joining a registered student organization (RSO), sharpen your skills and bolster your knowledge by committing to an internship or experimental learning opportunity, immerse yourself in culture by joining an on-campus celebration, and share your Cougar pride by attending an athletic event.

Saint Xavier’s student population is overwhelmingly first-generation, and many among our faculty and staff were also the first in their families to purse a college education. Through their firsthand experience, they will form meaningful connection with you as they provide mentorship, trust, inspiration, and impactful education. Be sure to ask questions, attend faculty office hours, consult with your advisor, and utilize resources like the Center for Learning and Student Support and the Student Advising Center. Your involvement is vital to your growth and success.

We are so pleased that you are joining our vibrant, caring community. As you enter the fall semester, I wish you great Success. I look forward to applauding your accomplishments and watching you develop as inspiring leaders.

Warm regards,

Keith Elder, Ph.D.

President
