Does LA Knight Have What It Takes To Dethrone Roman Reigns?

The match is now set. LA Knight will face The Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns at World Wrestling Entertainment’s (WWE) “Crown Jewel” pay-per-view on Nov. 4. Knight will finally get his long awaited opportunity to take the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship title. Will the megastar have what it takes?

Reigns finally made his return to WWE “SmackDown” on Oct 13. after a two month hiatus. His last appearance was at “SummerSlam” on Aug. 5. where he retained his Undisputed Universal Championship title against his cousin and former Bloodline member, Jey Uso.

Reigns’ first order of business was to interrupt John Cena’s in-ring promo in which he celebrated the season premiere of “SmackDown.” Reigns has not taken lightly to the fact that Cena made his return to the WWE while he was gone and has taken on the moniker of ‘the Greatest of All-Time.’

“Now let’s be honest here, John. You already know who the G.O.A.T is… It’s the tribal chief, ROMAN REIGNS!”

He then offered an ultimatum to Cena, telling him to leave the ring or else the Bloodline will make him leave by force. Cena responded by giving him an answer which he didn’t expect.

“I’m not here to challenge you, I’m here to acknowledge you.”

Cena mentioned the fact that Reigns has held the title for over 1,138 days, which he believes is the greatest accomplishment of all-time and he has earned it. Cena felt like he has not yet earned a championship match, for which he decided to pass the opportunity on to another challenger.

“But, I do know someone who has”

The crowd was delighted to see Knight make his way to the ring, to the surprise of the Bloodline. Cena handed his microphone over to Knight and told him, “It’s your time.”

Reigns was clearly unhappy with the challenge. He questioned Knight’s supposed inexperience in the company:

“Over 1,100 days as champ, I’ve done things that you would never imagine in this business. What makes you think you could ever stand in the ring with me?”

Knight responded by saying:

“I’ll put it to you like this. Who am I to be in the ring with you? I’m the fastest rising star in SmackDown history.”

Before Knight was able to finish his sentence, he was attacked from behind by Jimmy Uso of the Bloodline. Knight quickly recovered and used Uso as an example of what would happen to Reigns (and the Bloodline) if they tried to put a hand on him.

That same night, Knight proved himself by defeating Solo Sikoa, who had been ordered to dispose of Knight by his cousin, Reigns. Reigns then took the opportunity to send a message by hitting Knight with a Spear as he celebrated his victory.

Since then, the Los Angeles Times broke the news that the match has been made official. Knight will face Reigns at the “Crown Jewel” event which will take place from Saudi Arabia.

Reigns has refused to stand face to face with Knight since their last meeting together and did not make an appearance on last week’s “SmackDown.” His special counsel Paul Heyman was present however, and was given a message from Knight to send forward to the Tribal Chief in response to the attack:

“I don’t do warning shots. You’re gonna take a shot at me? You better put me down for good. I’ll just keep coming back… I will not stop until I own Roman Reigns in this ring and until I own the WWE Universal Undisputed Championship.”

Reigns luck has now run out as he will have to be present this Friday night for the contract signing between the two. It will be interesting to see what sort of chaos ensues when these two finally meet face to face once again.

We will have to wait and see whether the megastar LA Knight will be able to dethrone the ‘Head of the Table,’ or if Roman Reigns’ reign of terror will continue on the road to next year’s “WrestleMania.”
