Although the Saint Xavier University (SXU) Cougars didn’t finish their basketball season the way they wanted to, senior forward, Davion Lawrence, was able to end things on a high note.

After a phenomenal season, Lawrence earned the honor of making an All-Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) team. He was selected for the All-CCAC Second Team and this is his first All-CCAC accolade and honor since transferring from Moraine Valley Community College in 2024.

During this season, Lawrence averaged 14.3 points per game (PPG), 4.9 rebounds per game (RPG), 1.3 assists per game (APG), and 1.2 steals per game (SPG).

Lawrence led the team in scoring as he finished the season with 400 points. He shot 42.3% from the field and 37.8% from three-point range. These numbers helped him become the team leader in total field goals made (141) and total three-pointers made (59).

Lawrence really performed well all season; he had six 20+ point games with one of those games being the “Senior Day” game against the St. Francis Bulldogs where he posted a season high 24 points.

Another highlighted 20 point game was his game against Aquinas College (Mich.) where he posted a dominant double-double, finishing with 21 points and 11 rebounds.

Lawrence showed that he’s a team player when he finished with a season best 12 rebounds and five assists against Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.). He also finished with two steals and was one point shy from a double-double with nine points in that contest.

There were two occurrences during the season where Lawrence went on a lengthy streak of finishing with double-digit points in his games. During the start of the season, Lawrence scored double-digit points for seven straight games. Then towards the end of the season, he scored double-digit points for eight straight games.

To truly wrap up Lawrence’s season, it’s safe to say that he has been one of the highlights to SXU’s disappointing season. But with this All-CCAC honor, he may arguably be the best highlight for SXU men’s basketball this season.

He definitely deserves his spot on the team as he is 16th leading scorer in the conference while also having the 14th most points scored and being the ninth best leader in three-pointers made.

Congratulations to Davion Lawrence for receiving the honor, and we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors upon his upcoming graduation.
