This past Saturday, both the men’s and women’s cross country team competed in the NAIA 8k race, and both performed impressively at the tournaments.

Starting with the men, they placed 4th out of 21 teams. Individual performances to note off the bat is junior Abel Hernandez who continues to have a fantastic season. Finishing just one second shy of the school record.

He finished with an amazing time of 25:01 which placed him in second place overall for the race. Junior Alan Guzman also had a good performance as he placed sixth overall with a time of 25:32.

The men’s team finished with an overall score of 26:23, thirteen seconds less than their previous tournament score. This is a sign of constant improvement by the team that could leave them to eventually take first or second in their upcoming meets, and could lead to junior Abel Hernandez breaking the school record for the 8k race.

Let’s continue to show our men’s cross country team support as they compete in the CCAC Championships on November 27. The women’s cross country team also has an impressive run at their past meet. They placed third out of 20 teams at the race.

Individual performances to note was sophomore Ellie Willing who not only enjoyed a birthday that day, but also  a first place finish at the 5k with a time of 17:59. Junior Nicole Maier (19:11), and sophomore Sierra Downey (19:12) also had big performances finishing at 13th and 14th place consecutively.

As a team, the women’s cross country team ran an average time of 19:26 a mere 21 seconds more than first place. This was a bit of a step back for the women as they ran a19:14 last tournament, but nevertheless, this was still a spectacular performance on by women.

Let’s continue to show them support as they look to compete in the CCAC Championships on November 27.
