There are only 29 days left until Halloween. I know that some people may need some encouragement to get started on Halloween-related things, so I am going to break things down, week by week.
These are not order but (very strong) suggestions, so if you don’t want to do what I’m suggesting, feel free to do otherwise.
Costumes
If you aren’t really, really, really, REALLY into Halloween like I am, you may not have figured out what you want to be this year (I had it figured out by May, which was late for me).
You don’t necessarily even have to do anything yet. Just try to figure out what kind of costume you want, who (or what) you want to be this Halloween. Figuring out what you have to do is the first step to actually getting stuff done.
Parties
If you are the kind of person who likes to plan parties and wants a Halloween party, now is the time to start planning. Find out if any of your other friends are having parties, and if they are, find out the day and time that they are having it.
This way you can find an alternate date/time and won’t have other parties to compete with. It also saves your friends from having to choose between multiple parties, which makes pretty much everyone feel bad.
Decorating
Now that it is officially October, you can start decorating your house/dorm/room. I usually start off with festive window clings since they are easy to put up and fairly inexpensive.
They also don’t take up as much room as other decorations, so they don’t get in the way like a giant pumpkin or black cat centerpiece might. Start off with the easier, smaller things and work your way up.
Things to watch
Ghostbusters is always a good movie to watch, especially in October. If you feel like you aren’t really in a Halloween mood, I suggest that you watch it.
It has always gotten me into a spooky state of mind while still being able to have a good laugh.
There are so many good things about this movie.
From the characters to the plot to the jokes, Ghostbusters has got it all. It even has the Stay Puft Marshmallow man.
Plus, it’s a classic, and everyone should see it.
Music to play
There are so many different Halloween themed songs, but the ultimate get-into-the-Halloween-spirit song is the “Monster Mash”.
Bobby “Boris” Pickett and the Crypt-Kicker’s hit song is not only catchy but also nostalgic. I remember learning the dance to this song during gym for several Octobers of my youth.
This is also a great song to put on your playlist if you are planning on throwing a Halloween bash.
