On April 20, the Saint Xavier women’s golf team competed in the AIB Jack Chadwick Invitational.
The Cougars had a great first day, but were not able to continue their success as only 18 of the 36 holes of the tournament were completed due to bad weather.
The Cougars did very well on the first and only day of this invitational both individually and as a team.
Individually, the Cougars were led by sophomore Taylor Thompson as she totaled a score of 80 through 18 holes.
That score was good enough to put her in a tie for second place and be only two strokes off from placing her in first.
Sophomore Katie Reno placed in 12th after 18 holes with a score of 91. Freshman Hunter Schultz would finish 18 holes with a score of 95, putting her in a tie for 16th place.
Freshman Hannah Cruz would finish just one point behind her with a score of 96. That score would put her in a tie for 19th place. As a team, the Cougars would finish with a total score of 362.
That team score was good enough to put the Cougars in second place, just five points behind the leader and winner of the AIB Invite, AIB.
The Cougars will look to continue playing well when they go to New Lenox on Monday, April 27, when they participate in the CCAC Women’s Golf Championship in a two day tournament at Sanctuary Golf Course.
