Cougars Connect 1-on-1!

On Wednesday, September 28, 2016, Career Services held a career networking night in the Butler Reception Room from 5:00pm-6:30pm. Pizza and refreshments were served to the students who attended the event to ease their minds and get them ready to learn more about the different career fields that the world has to offer them. This event allowed students to network with individuals in various career fields and give them an opportunity to engage in conversation with one another. It also allowed students to ask questions about a specific major and the future endeavors that could possibly be in store for them in a field of work of their liking. The students had the opportunity to ask  different questions if they saw a representative for their specific career field present or if they saw a representative in a career field that they are thinking about joining. Career services hosted a remarkable event. This event allowed students to educate themselves on what life can offer them beyond college, meet new people, and learn about different jobs in specific careers that they may be interested in..

As we spoke with Saint Xavier’s alumni, Maura Manahan, who graduated May 2016 with a BA in communications, she was asked if she believed this networking event is beneficial for the students and why or why not. She responded with, “Yes, I do think this event is beneficial to the students. We’re having a good turnout and networking with people from different career fields gives students an idea of what options they have after graduation. They get the chance to explore the endless opportunities that they could have and the different directions a person can take with their major.” We couldn’t agree with Maura more. This networking event allowed students to see how many paths can be taken in life. If one way doesn’t work out as well for you, then there is always another road that could lead you straight to success if you are willing to put in the work. The Career Services team did an outstanding job with their event. Hopefully, students got the answers that they needed. After this event the SXU students should walk away wondering what path they will take next in life thanks to Career Services.
