Breaking News: SXU Campus Ministry Director Resigns

On October 20, Rachelle Kramer, D.Min. shared news that she will be leaving Saint Xavier University and no longer serve her position as a Campus Ministry Director.

In an email sent on October 20, Kramer informed students that, “it is with a heavy heart” to leave the position, and this has been ‘a difficult decision.’

“I have so enjoyed working with each and every one of you, whether it was through peer ministry, the liturgy team, music ministry, or your role as a student worker in Rubloff Hall,” said the former director of Campus Ministry.

Kramer emphasized the importance of each person’s contribution to the program. She discovers that “you have many gifts to share with our Saint Xavier community and our world,” further emphasizing to “Keep on sharing them!”

Kramer continued: “Each of you has been a bright light during my time here, and I am so grateful for that.”

Upon Kramer’s departure, Jenny DeVivo, OblSB, Ph.D., the Executive Director of Mission and Heritage, will be actively overseeing Campus Ministry, as stated in Kramer’s email. “She and I are working on a transition plan and how programs will proceed moving forward,” noted Kramer.

In an October 25 email, DeVivo commented on this news of stepping in and ‘pursuing’ the director of Campus Ministry momentarily. “We look forward to supporting the community by carrying on the momentum of Dr. Kramer’s rich contributions while continuing to work with the community to enhance our vision, mission and pedagogy.”

Since Kramer was the sole full-time employee in Campus Ministry, adaptations will need to be made.

Kramer later mentioned on October 20, “We ask for your patience with the process, and we’ll be relying on your leadership to carry the good work that is already happening forward.”

“Be assured of my prayers during this time,” she continued, also realizing, “I know this is tough news to receive.”

DeVivo recognized in her October 25 email that “Dr. Kramer has brought a focused mission to Campus Ministry,” saying, “She articulated four pillars for Campus Ministry: cultivating spiritual growth, living Mercy, working and educating for justice, and fostering an authentic community.”

She continued: “[Dr. Kramer] has brought a revitalized energy to the department through her leadership, particularly in liturgy, program development, and the additional Campus Ministry space in Rubloff.”

DeVivo is ‘very grateful’ for Kramer’s leadership and work when she served this role.

Kramer’s last day in office will be Friday, October 29. In the meantime, she is happy to meet with anyone ‘if there is need.’

Kramer wishes campus community members all the very best.
