Binders for Women

Posted on March 20, 2013

The Women’s Studies program at SXU has invited students to attend a full-day conference smartly entitled “Binders Full of Women.”

This event takes place on March 22nd in the student lounge, and will run from 8:30am-5:00pm.
The conference will address gender issues in the academic and professional fields, women’s issues throughout history, and more. Speakers include SXU students and faculty members, as well as Virginia Rugai, former Chicago Alderwoman of the 19th ward. This conference will be an incredible opportunity to initiate dialogue among the SXU community about the gender disparities both on campus and in broader contexts.

These issues affect not only women, but people of all gender identities. Understanding gender issues is an important step in the direction of social consciousness.

As college students who are in a position of preparation for shaping the next generation, we should feel responsible for initiating such a dialogue and subsequently promoting a more progressive approach to gender.
