It was a loaded week/weekend for the SXU basketball team that started out with the Men.
Wednesday, November 11
It was the only game for the Men this week and they hosted the University of St. Francis, a number four team in their division.
First Half
At the end of one, the Cougars were down 21 points. It’s a continued struggle in the first half for the Cougars as they were unable to stop the hot shooting of St. Francis.
St. Francis had 57 points on 51.3% shooting while also converting six threes as well. St. Francis also won the hustle stats getting twenty five rebounds to SXU’s fifteen.
Although SXU was having a rough shooting night from the field, (36 points on 36.9% shooting) they were able to convert on six of their three point attempts. At the end of the half, sophomore guard Larry Moturis was leading all score with 17 points on 4-9 shooting.
Second Half
At the end of the second half, SXU couldn’t get their defense in gear as St. Francis was very hot shooting 57.9% for the half, and 55.9% for the game. On the bright side, sophomore guard Larry Moturis had a career high 39 points while pulling down 8rbs just two shy of a double-double.
Looking at the Men’s team, they have to be panicking seeing as though they have lost four out of their last five games. Moving on to the women, they enjoyed more success over the weekend.
