Within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there is a running gag in the fandom that many of the actors are the characters they portray in real-life.
Hence, this would prove why their performances are so spot-on within their films.
Let me highlight a few examples:
Chris Evans’ political and social rants on Twitter equates him to Captain America/Steve Rogers, always ready to defend his country and its people.
Ryan Reynolds’ humorous demeanor within public and the media – almost to the point of vulgarity most of the time – strikes many people as reminiscent of his character Deadpool/Wade Wilson.
The list goes on.
However, one of the most recent public depictions of such actor/character fusion was when Robert Downey Jr. took to Twitter to contact the Marvel Studios page regarding the release date of the first part of Avengers: Infinity War.
The following exchange occurred on Twitter on March 1:
Marvel Studios: On a scale of one to infinity, how excited are you to see #InfinityWar on May 4?
Robert Downey Jr.: Any chance I could see it earlier?
MS: Anything for you, Mr. Stark! How’s April 27?
RDJ: Great. With friends?
MS: You mean these friends? (tags actors appearing in the film)
RDJ: The entire world?
MS: That’s a FANTASTIC idea! Done. Avengers: #InfinityWar in theaters everywhere April 27.
Rationally, I know that this was a likely planned stunt between Marvel Studios and Downey to further add hype to Avengers: Infinity War, rather than it being a spontaneous decision.
But the out of the entire cast and characters, it was perfection to have it be Downey/Tony Stark that convinced a studio to release a movie a week earlier than intended.
The first part of Avengers: Infinity War will now be released on April 27 rather than May 4.
It seemed like a curious choice.
May is usually one of the hottest months for a movie of this standing to be released.
So why change the release date, even if it was to be released earlier?
There are several theories circulating online as to why this decision was made.
One such theory was that the original release of Avengers: Infinity War was threatened by the release of Deadpool 2, which will hit theaters May 18.
Really, I’d pay money to see them both in the span of three weeks, and likely multiple times.
But perhaps the studios weren’t too keen on sharing the spotlight with another potentially successful film?
Another theory is that industries behind these two Marvel films collectively thought perhaps it would be more beneficial financially speaking to spread the two movies out.
I can see them likely wanting to take advantage of the masses wishing to see both movies.
Chances are, perhaps they realized that by spreading the two movies out a bit further rather than releasing them in the same month, they may gain a bigger following of movie-goers.
Thus, this would cause more cash flows into their pockets. But it’s just a theory among others.
Either way, whatever the reasoning, Infinity War is coming sooner, and 2018 is certainly shaping to be an excellent year for Marvel.
Black Panther’s massively obliterating success following their February release started it off.
They have met and wildly surpassed the one-billion dollar mark at the of office, and it’s still hot in theaters!
And now we are eagerly anticipating some promising Marvel Cinematic Universe movies within the next few months.
First Avengers: Infinity War in April, then Deadpool 2 in May, followed by Antman and the Wasp on July 6, and finally Venom on October 5.
Venom may or may not coincide with the events of Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), but I will list it, just in case.
At any rate, who doesn’t want more Marvel movies in their lives?
See you in theaters!
