Q: You are an All-American on the track team and you also run cross country, what is the difference between the two?
A: I would have to say the biggest difference is probably transitioning between the two because cross country we all just run the same event and it’s a 5K (5,000 meter run). In track, everyone gets into their individual events, anywhere from a 400 to a marathon so it’s a very big range.
Q: What are some of your favorite quotes?
A: One of my favorite quotes is actually something Coach Lisa Ebel said, who is the head coach of both cross country and track, and it’s never let success get to your head and never let failure get to your heart. Basically, don’t let success get to your head and then for failure if something doesn’t go right it goes on and we have more meets and stuff and there is time to succeed.
Q: What is one sport that you have not played, but would like to play?
A: I would have to say volleyball, it looks fun and I’ve never tried it.
Q: Who has been a big supporter of you?
A: I would have to start with the head coach, Coach Lisa Ebel and my parents of course. All of my friends that always try to make it out to the meets and stuff like that.
Q: Do you have any pets?
A: Yes, I have two dogs. One is a German Shepherd/Pit bull and a Chihuahua. I have a cat and a little beta fish as well.
Q: What is one thing on your wish list of things to do in your lifetime?
A: One big thing is to travel to all 50 states; I have about 13 more to go.
Q: Would you ever want to challenge anyone to a race?
A: Depends who and how long of a race. (Ha-ha)
Q: What is the best type of music to run to?
A: I like upbeat music just to keep you going, so it makes it easier.
Q: Is there any place that you would like to visit?
A: I’ve always wanted to visit Australia. I don’t know why, it just seems like a cool place to visit.
Q: Who is one person that you would like to meet one day?
A: I’ve seen Usain Bolt, but I have never actually met him, so that would be a nice person to meet. He is an Olympic sprinter, so that would be fun.
Q: Is there anyone else in your family that did or is currently doing cross country?
A: Yeah, actually both of my brothers are doing it. One is at Western and then I have a little brother in high school that runs for his high school. They are both really good.
Q: What is the best way to distress after a long run?
A: I would have to say that running is distressing for me. Just going on a long run and getting everything off of my mind.
