Athlete Profile: Outside Hitter Bridget Krasowski

#9 Krasowski Credits: SXU Athletlics

There is no denying that the Cougar Football team is having a great season.  It’s hard to believe that there are only two games left in the regular season.  But enough about football for one week, because I think it’s time to move to a different sport.  This article is all about another Cougar powerhouse team; the Cougar Women’s Volleyball team.

For those who have not been following on their season, it has been just as explosive as the football season.  After 30 games, the Cougars are 27-3.  This is their best record to date.  They know that they are the best just by their biggest game against Division II school, Purdue Northwest.  One player that is really a big impression is Outside hitter, Bridget Krasowski.

Bridget is a senior studying in Liberal Arts (Education) and comes from Marist High school.  Bridget is a transfer student from Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, IN.  For those who don’t know, Saint Joseph’s College closed this past school year due to financial reasons.  Bridget and I came from SJC to only be at Saint Xavier for one year.  No one planned for this to happen, especially Bridget.  But one thing I enjoy about being at SXU is seeing Bridget play.  She is still the same powerhouse hitter I saw at Saint Joe.  She never backs down and she always puts up a fight.  In fact, Bridget received her 1,000 kill this season.

When I sat down with Bridget, I asked her how she started to play volleyball and what made her decide to come to SXU for one year.  See what this new Cougar has to say!

When did you start playing volleyball and why?

Bridget: I started playing volleyball when I was in the third grade. My family has always been a volleyball family, so I grew up around volleyball my whole life.  Once I started to really understand the game, I fell in love.  I started taking it more seriously in seventh grade when I started playing club volleyball and have played ever since.

Growing up, who was your role model?

Bridget: My role model has always been my grandpa; he has always had a positive impact on my life. He always taught me to look at the positive side of life and not to give up on anything.  He has shown me that if you work hard at something, you can achieve it.

Did you play any other sport besides volleyball?

Bridget: In grammar school I played soccer, basketball, and also cheered. Throughout high school I only played volleyball.

Your previous college, Saint Joseph’s College in Indiana, just closed this past year.  Why did you choose to have your senior year at Saint Xavier?

Bridget: I chose Saint Xavier to finish out my senior year at because it was closer to home and when I visited I enjoyed the small campus feel.  Coming to Saint Xavier I was also able to finish out my volleyball career and that was one thing I was really looking for in a school. The girls on the team are amazing and I could not be happier with my choice.

How hard was or is it to adjust to somewhere for just one year?  Especially since you did not plan on transferring schools.

Bridget: It was defiantly difficult to get used to a new campus and finding my new classes, feeling like a freshman all over again is never very fun.  Now that we are almost to the end of the first semester, I am getting a hang of the campus and I am really enjoying it! The faculty and staff here have also made my transfer very easy and less stressful.

What are the top 5 songs you listen to before a game or before you work-out?

Bridget: 1. Maroon 5- What Lovers Do. 2. Marshmello- Alone 3. Demi Lovato- Sorry Not Sorry 4. Kesha- Praying 5. Cheat Codes- No Promises.

Do you have any superstitions?

Bridget: I do, I have to wear the same headband for every game.

What is so different about this team then others you have been a part of?

Bridget: We have a lot of team chemistry and that is a key part of why we are doing so well this season. Playing with these girls is so enjoyable and we are always having a blast on the court, while taking care of business of course.

What is something on your bucket list?

Bridget: I would love to do a lot of traveling! Also if I can get the courage to do so, I would love to try skydiving.

Name an iconic duo?

Bridget: SpongeBob Squarepants and Patrick Star

A very special thanks Bridget for doing this interview!  It was really cool catching up with you!  Tune in next week for another Athlete Profile!
