Ari Lennox and JID Album Reviews

Written By: Kyla Turner

Dreamville Records has been feeding its listeners with new material throughout 2022. Recently, this record label has released two new albums by two of their hottest artists, Ari Lennox and JID.

JID has been active throughout the pandemic, releasing songs with Spillage Village, EARTHGANG, and Ant Clemons. He has released many singles sharing his perception of the pandemic, racism in America, and substance abuse.

Even though he has been working on collaborations over the years, his fans have not heard a solo project released by himself since March 10, 2017 when he dropped The Never Story. On the other hand, the wait has been over since August 26, 2022 when he released his newest solo album The Forever Story.

The Forever Story has been a tremendous success from track 1 to track 15. Songs like “Dance Now,” “Kody Blu 31,” “Stars” (featuring Yasiin Bey), and “Can’t Make You U

Change” (featuring Ari Lennox) have reignitiated the soul in Hip-Hop, discussing societal issues in a rhythmic, lyrical, and creative light.

Speaking of Ari Lennox, we cannot skip over her new successful album titled age/sex/location. Her audience has not seen her drop a serious project since 2019 when her album Shea Butter Baby was released.

Just like JID, Ari Lennox has been featured on many other projects such as Jazmine Sullivan’s Heaux Tales and Skip Marley’s single “Make Me Feel.” Within her features, she has exuded her style of R&B that compliments every track she touches.

Ari Lennox’s new album has been a blessing to the ears of not only the Dreamville fanbase, but R&B lovers across the globe. Songs like “POF,” “Hoodie,” and “Leak It” featuring the rising star Chole has the internet in a choke hold with infatuation and highkey love with her new project!

Dreamville has been one of the few labels who has released consistent and pristine projects throughout this year.

In March, the label dropped a collaborative mix-tape titled D-Day: a Gangsta Grillz Mixtape that has featured so many Dreamville artists including JID, Ari Lennox, J. Cole, and EARTHGANG along with outside features such as 2 Chainz and A$AP Ferg.

EARTHGANG has also been in the mix of great releases with their most recent album that was released in February titled Ghetto Gods, along with their deluxe album that was released in July. Dreamville has been very successful in releasing relevant, intriguing, and impactful music that keeps their fanbase hungry for more.
