Ant Man: Beyond the Yellow Brick Road

Elton John was very popular in the 1970s with many songs that were a hit such as “Rocket Man”, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” and “Bennie And The Jets”, but there was one song that is as popular today as it was when it was released.

“Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” was released in 1973 in the genre of Pop Rock. When the song came out, many individuals loved it because of what the lyrics said to the listener.

“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” releases in theaters on February 16. The trailer of the film used “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” which implies that a major shift is going to occur in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This film goes through the stages of how Antman is trying to become a better father for his daughter.

Christopher Marino, a first-year student at Saint Xavier University stated, “There is about to be a big change in the Marvel Universe: it seems that Kang is introduced.” As he theorizes this change in the MCU, it relates to the lyrics of this song in a tremendous way.

The lyrics “Maybe you’ll get a replacement” also relate to the challenges that Antman is feeling in this movie because he lost so much time with his daughter. Throughout the film, there are small lines that show Scott’s sadness with his daughter- such as the very last scene when he celebrates his daughter’s birthday when it isn’t the date. He is trying to make up for all the times that he hasn’t been there for her.

Christopher continued by stating, “I believe that the lyrics are saying that sometimes, even though you love something, you might have to say goodbye to it.”

Throughout the film, there were times where Scott and his family had to make difficult decisions regarding when to say goodbye to something or when, on the other hand, to fight for it. An example of these decisions is when, close to the end of the film, Scott had the chance to go home but instead made a different choice.

His choice was to stay and fight for people to not get hurt instead of traveling back home to be with his family. When he made these decisions, he thought he had to say goodbye to the thought of living life with his family.

Additionally, the lyrics “There’s plenty like me to be found”, found in Elton John’s song, talks about a big part of the story with Scott and his significant other.

When they are traveling throughout the quantumania, he and Hope split into infinite possibilities of how the next few minutes could lead to the rest of their lives. These lyrics give the audience a good sense of what the film will explore from the trailer alone because of this scene in the film.

This song was put in the trailer of the upcoming film “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” because of how much the lyrics reflected many aspects that the characters of the film had to go through such as growth.

They had to continue to make sacrifices with themselves and others to do the right thing at the end of the film.

Antman can be seen in multiple formats, including IMAX, 3D, and IMAX 3D starting February 16 at your local theater.Trailer- https://youtu.be/ZlNFpri-Y40
