An Evening with Silk Sonic: Album Review

Posted on November 18, 2021

Hey, Cougars!!! The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here. The Silk Sonic album has arrived, and it’s everything we expected, plus more! The 9-track album is filled with upbeat songs that’ll put you in a groovy mood. So, sit back and enjoy as we review each track for its heavenly sounds.

1.“Silk Sonic Intro”

A short, groovy, introduction to the album that gets us ready for the following track. From this 60-second intro, we already know that we can expect an album filled with both old and modern sounds that’ll get us excited to hear what’s next.

 2. “Leave the Door Open”

We’re all familiar with this song and how it had the music industry on lockdown! Originally released in March, this track is the most popular song on the album. It’s smooth, musical, dynamic keeps us on a roll with the upcoming tracks.

3. “Fly As Me”

The album’s first upbeat song, but not its last, “Fly as Me” has its own sound that makes us addicted to the bass and drumline. by the catchy vocals of Bruno Mars and Anderson. Paak’s “Fly as Me” gives us rhythmic rapping that leaves this track unique and indescribable.

4. “After Last Night”

For this track, the melodies are slowed down, and the vocals are more present. Featuring Thundercat and the father of funk himself, Bootsy Collins, these artists added a soulful and flirtatious feeling to this track. The great story being told in this song will tickle your soul.

5. “Smokin’ Out the Window”

Released as a single just two weeks before the album release, “Smokin’ Out the Window” is another track that features Bootsy Collins and gives us that ultimate soulful feeling. Bootsy’s lyrics blend in well with Bruno’s voice, and the sound of this song will leave you enticed.

6. “Put On a Smile”

There is something about this track that distinguishes it from the others. In this track, we take a break from the everlasting soulful feeling of this album and instead we take a trip down a road that we all know too well, pretending to be OK. The back-and-forth angelic vocals of Bruno Mars and Anderson. Paak, that is undeniably addictive.

7. “777” With “777”

We’re back on the upbeat side of this album, and honestly, it feels great. There’s no coincidence that “777” is the number seven-song on the album; this fresh tune will leave you feeling lucky. The background beat of this song is very alluring and will have you on your feet within seconds!

8. “Skate”

Skate introduces us to yet another melodic hit from this one-of-a-kind album. The lyrics, sound, and singing will give you a wonderful feeling of positivity!

9. “Blast Off”

With its chill and nostalgic vibes, this track did not disappoint. The overall feeling of this song is extremely relaxing and eventually sends you into another dimension with the sound of an electric guitar. Signing off, the album couldn’t have ended in a better way.
