On Wednesday, Oct. 16 the Advising and Career Success Day took place from 9–4 p.m. Attendance was required for students with in-person Wednesday classes. Attendance was encouraged from students who do not have Wednesday classes. The events were in various locations across campus.
Students were able to speak with advisors, attend development sessions, connect with SXU alumni and mentors, find internships/job opportunities and more.
The first event that took place was Job Searching from 9–10 a.m. It consisted of two lectures: the Job Jumpstart Panel and Conquer your Career.
Advising Fundamentals took place from 10–11 a.m. General Advising and Preparation for Graduation were the two workshops available at this time.
Preparation for Graduation took place in various locations for different majors including Nursing, Computer Science/Computer Information Systems, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Social Science, Biology and Liberal Arts and Humanities.
The Social Networking Event took place from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. This consisted of a Major mixer, learning more about the major or your choice as well as other majors and Cougar Connections, and engaging with alumni in interactive sessions.
The College-to-Career Expo took place from 12–2 p.m. This allowed students to connect with employers for different job and internship opportunities.
Lastly, Faculty Advising appointments took place from 2–4 p.m. Students were able to meet with advisors addressing any issues or concerns in their faculty offices.
