A Romance of Aromas: “Bridgerton” x B&BW

The Netflix smash hit “Bridgerton” has officially begun promotion for its highly-anticipated third season. While fans are eagerly counting down the days until the first half is released on
May 16, they can now tide themselves over by exploring the new Bath & Body Works collection made in collaboration with the Regency drama.

The “Bridgerton Collection” includes candles, foaming and gel hand soaps, scented hand sanitizers with themed holders, “Wallflowers” fragrance plugs with themed plug covers, and
more.

With such an expansive pool of products, it may be overwhelming to decide what to pick. For prospective buyers unsure of what fragrance to purchase, I’ve ranked the five scented candles to
guide you on your B&BW journey.

5. Danbury Shortbread
Even for someone who loves sweet scents, this candle is by far the worst of the bunch. The vanilla, almond, and sugar notes make it overwhelmingly sweet, akin more to a sugar cookie
coated in frosting and frangipane rather than a shortbread.

The warm pink-and-red packaging seems better suited to a spicier dessert like cinnamon babka rather than the fragrance equivalent of the Pillsbury Doughboy.
Furthermore, it doesn’t match its namesake at all. Lady Danbury is a cunning mix of class and sass, but her candle falls flat on all accounts.

4. Wisteria Garden
With notes of rosewood, lemon petal, and specifically “English” rain, Wisteria Garden is a pleasant reprieve from the potent impression left by Danbury Shortbread.
The fragrance is a tad perfume-adjacent, but not overpoweringly so. Subtler than it seems, this candle is like sticking your nose into a bouquet of wildflowers and baby’s breath. It veers on the
basic side, but I think that’s exactly what makes this candle perfect for everyday use. This would be exceedingly pleasant in a kitchen or bathroom, somewhere homey but clean.

3. Queen Charlotte’s Tea
Let’s get one thing straight: there is not a whiff of tea in this candle. That said, the actual fragrance is surprisingly fresh and bright. The notes are bergamot, citrus, and (allegedly) black tea leaves, but only
the two former notes truly present themselves in the candle. The combination produces a refreshing scent, light without being faint and memorable without being too strong,
I would love to see a version of this candle where there is a noticeable undercurrent of tea. That would absolutely elevate this candle and make it worthy of its royal namesake.

2. Bridgerton Study
This candle is everything you want cologne to be. The notes of amber, oakwood, and orchid form a downright intoxicating mix.
It was love at first smell for me, and I couldn’t refrain from purchasing a three-wick candle before I left. This is the perfect candle for a bedroom or living room; it’s the kind of scent you want to come home to.

That said, the dark and smooth fragrance with just a hint of floral undertones won’t be everybody’s cup of tea. After burning a while, the scent may be too intense for those who are
sensitive to smell. This scent is my personal favorite, but I must objectively say it’s a silver medalist when examining the entire lineup.

1. Diamond Of The Season
Aptly named, this candle of the first water is a standout for all the right reasons. It contains notes of peach, jasmine, and daffodil that combine to make a bubbly and sweet
fragrance. The fruity aspects mingle well with the floral to make a perfect springtime scent. Reminiscent of a fine mimosa or peach scones cooling on the windowsill, this candle is the clear
fan favorite.

Bath & Body Works must have anticipated as such, seeing as how this candle is priced at $32.95 compared to the $29.95 tag on the other four. This is also the only scent that can be found in
additional products: body wash, body cream, body lotion, and a fragrance mist.

Though Bridgerton Study undoubtedly has my heart, I may need to make a second trip to purchase the Diamond Of The Season fragrance mist to be my new signature scent. Who knows?
Maybe it’ll land me a Viscount! You can shop the Bridgerton Collection for a limited time only online or in person at your local Bath & Body Works.
