A Letter to the Editor

Posted on October 7, 2014

Dear Xavierite Staff:
We appreciate the article you wrote last week concerning Homecoming and the divide between residents and commuters; however, we find it to be extremely flawed. Homecoming flyers were distributed long before Homecoming Week even took place.
The entire Student Activities Hallway and the First Floor L Wing were completely decorated and advertised that it was Homecoming Week. We, the SXC Executive Board, are very distraught by the fact that commuters on your staff seemed to know nothing about Homecoming Week.
It’s frustrating that people don’t know about Homecoming when the same steps are taken to advertise it each and every year. Sometimes it takes student initiative to figure things out. Campus Life, Residence Life, RHA, and SXC can only do so much until you have to do a little bit on your own.
We realize and completely understand that our school population is not as large as many others.
We can only do so much with the budget we are given to work with.
We provide a variety of events and do our best to ensure that the students will have a fun Homecoming Week.
If you would like to be part of the Homecoming planning for next year, please stop by Campus Life in L-103, and they would appreciate any suggestions you would like to offer.
A final note, next time, don’t contradict yourself when your lead story reads “SXU Homecoming Week Boasts Wide Offerings” while the commuters on staff acts as if they’re clueless. We look forward to Homecoming 2015.
Sincerely,
SXC Executive Board
