The Xavierite is currently looking for new writers to join our ranks next semester. In particular we are trying to find people with an aptitude in news writing and opinion writing. However, we are always welcoming to any writers who are willing to join any section and open to new writers.

So what do you need to write for The Xavierite? Chiefly among necessary skills is to be proficient in writing. Generally speaking, our staff is made of quite a few Mass Communication majors.
However, we have never limited our staff to those majors alone.

We have had staff members from many different disciplines. But, what links them all together is an appreciation for the English language and the ability to communicate competently through the written word.

Second, you need to be inquisitive – willing to ask questions and a want to understand the campus, community and world around you. Third, you need to be able to manage your time.

Often times story assignments are worked around sources, events and coverage and if so inclined to joining, you need to be able to manage this responsibility with your school work and any other job that you might have.

However, it must be said, that if you meet these criteria and are willing to do these things this job can not only be a great way to boost your resume and build a portfolio but can also just be a good time.

In the coming weeks, nearing the end of this semester, and you feel that this something that you might be interested in, then please send us an email at thexavierite@yahoo.com. Include in the subject line “Interested Writer” and describe in what capacity you might be interested in.
