Between Tuesday and Wednesday, Disney and Pixar released new information regarding some new films that will be coming out in a few years. We have learned that The Incredibles 2 and Toy Story 4 have swapped released dates, meaning The Incredibles 2 will now come out before Toy Story 4. In other film news, Disney has also confirmed that they will be doing a contemporary musical reboot of Charles Dickens’ “Oliver Twist.” Let’s take a deeper look into the three films that will be coming to a movie theatre near you in the future.

It has been twelve years since The Incredibles hit the big screen and now they will be making their triumphant return on June 15, 2018. Originally, The Incredibles 2 was not supposed to come out until June 21, 2019, but the film changed dates with Toy Story 4. Not many details have been released about the film, but one thing that we do know is that Brad Bird, the director of the first Incredibles film, will be returning as the director.

It’s not time to pack away the toys just yet. The Disney-Pixar hit, Toy Story, is adding a fourth film to their successful franchise. Of course, details about the movie are remaining tight-lipped, but judging by a statement from director John Lasseter to Oh My Disney, it sounds like it will be hit.

“We love these characters so much; they are like family to us,” said Lasseter. “We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before. Toy Story 3 ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another Toy Story movie. But when Andrew, Pete, Lee and I came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie—and I wanted to direct it myself”.

Sounds convincing, guess we’ll just have to wait and see! In other film news…

Back in 1988, Disney released an animated adaptation of Oliver Twist tilted, Oliver and Company, and more notably a stage production called Oliver! has spawned from Dickens novel. This time around, actor/rapper Ice Cube has been tapped to play the role of Fagin and he will also co-produce the film. Thomas Kail, director of the hit Broadway musical Hamilton, will be directing the film. This version will be a musical and will involve numerous genres of music. The film has not been given a release date just yet.

Multiple sources and news outlets have reported that Pixar does not like to make sequels; maybe this is why fans have been waiting so long for some of their favorites to get a second movie. Who knows. Regardless, all three of these movies should hopefully be big box office hits!
