Last Friday, SXU’s Internship and Job Fair took place in the Shannon Center from noon to 3pm. Over 40 employers were present at the fair recruiting for volunteer, internships, part-time and full-time opportunities. All SXU students were welcomed to attend.

The Xavierite spoke with a couple of students who expressed their thoughts on the fair.

“I think it’s really cool that the Career Services on campus puts this together and invites different companies to come and recruit students and community members . . . I definitely recommend students to come. It’s nerve wrecking but it’s a good experience,” said Adelinne Whittenhall, a senior majoring in Psychology.

“I think more students should attend these fairs, even if they are freshmen or sophomores. They have part-time positions available and, if they learn how to work out their schedules right, they can manage it, if they really try,” said Sana Odeh, a Nursing major.

As a nursing student, Odeh was looking for positions specifically in a hospital. “Just talking to hospitals is absolutely amazing and getting your foot in the door for nursing and [for] anyone pursuing a healthcare [career] . . .  I want to get my foot in the door for once I graduate.”

The Internship and Job Fair is hosted every semester by Career Services. For more information, you may visit Career Services’ modular unit.
