A Letter from the Desk of the Editor-in-Chief

The Xavierite is looking for someone to help out in the Viewpoints section. What are we looking for? We want someone who is an opinionated and strong writer.

The Viewpoints section is easily one of the paper’s most accessible and relatable sections. It’s a place where many points of view can come together.Working on this staff also provides people with the opportunity to build a portfolio and earn work experience.

So what are we looking for? We want someone who can dedicate several hours a week to working on researching, writing and laying out articles that reflect a strong, well-researched and earnest point of view.

Simply look at either of the two columns on this page and ask yourself if you would be interested in doing something similar. If so then don’t hesitate to contact us at thexavierite@yahoo,com.

While we are particularly looking for Viewpoints writers we also have a desire to recruit contributors for all of the sections. Generally speaking we are looking for people with an inclination for writing and reporting.

Preferably we like to hear from people who have some experience in interviewing people, an eye for stories and a desire to write about a variety of topics and, of course, strong writing skills. The newspaper is a grand tradition and we encourage those who think that they can meet the requirements listed above to think about joining our organization in a facet of their choosing.

This can be a wonderful learning experience for you and a way for The Xavierite to broaden the content and perspectives of the newspaper. So if this sounds like a job for you, please shoot us an email to thexavierite@yahoo.com and set up an appointment with yours truly.

If you are such a go-getter make the subject line something similar to the following: “Possible Contributor”. I’m looking forward to hearing from you. We pride ourselves on being the eyes on ears of the student body. But, we can always use a hand. Lend yours and become a part of a great organization. – Brian Laughran
