SXU’s Homecoming celebrations start Monday, Sept. 30.

With September now coming to a close, various universities are already planning on celebrating their school’s Homecoming – and Saint Xavier University is no exception to that! From Monday, Sept. 30 until Saturday, Oct. 5, multiple SXU Homecoming festivities are set to take place throughout campus. These events are sponsored by Campus Life, the Saint Xavier Council (SXC), Student Affairs, Residence Life, Intramurals, and the office of Alumni and Parent Relations.

SXU’s Homecoming festivities will kick off on Monday with the “SX-Brew” Bus. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni will be able to try out different custom-made coffee drinks which were specifically designed to honor the university’s Homecoming. This event will take place from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at multiple locations, so those interested in attending should be on the lookout for them.

Later in the day, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the SXU diner, students can get free Cougar accessories by joining SXC members in decorating the Student Activities hallway. In addition to that, students can also enjoy creating their own SXU Build-a-Bear for a small fee.

To end Monday’s celebrations, Intramurals will be hosting its Powder Puff flag football game at 7:00 p.m. in the Deaton Memorial Field. Any female students interested in being part of a team can sign up on the Intramurals site through their mySXU account.

Tuesday, Oct. 1’s festivities prove to be just as exciting as Monday’s. Students, faculty, and staff can enjoy watching a show put on by hypnotist Christopher Carter from noon – 1:00 p.m. in the diner.

SXU seniors, faculty, staff, and alumni can enjoy a special event – Senior Pub Night: Unveil the Ale – at 4:00 p.m. in Gilhooley’s Grande Saloon.

During this event, attendees will be able to taste a drink that was specifically designed for Saint Xavier – COUGAR ALE – which was produced in partnership with Horse Thief Hollow Restaurant & Brewery and also through the university’s Alumni Association and Student Affairs.

Laura Lamb – Associate Director at Campus Life – gave more details on what seniors could look forward to during this event.

“The kick off for that is going to be on Tuesday and it’s going to be over at Gilhooley’s for seniors. They’ll be able to sample the new COUGAR ALE and then they’ll also be able to start thinking about Senior Week and activities that they could do for that week as well as getting connected with the Alumni Association right away. We’re already starting to plan Senior Week – which is hard to believe sense that’s in April; it seems really far off from now, but it’ll be here soon,” said Lamb.

To end Tuesday’s events, from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. in the Morris Hall Starbucks, students can view a movie and try out free drink samples.
