The Holdovers (movie)
“The Holdovers” is a 2023 film following three lonely people stuck at a New England boarding school over the holiday break. There’s a strict, grumpy Classics teacher, a misunderstood, trouble-making student, and the manager of the school’s cafeteria who recently lost her son. Every character is very different, but they find much-needed companionship in one another.
I watched “The Holdovers” for the first time last week and loved it. It’s hilarious and so heartfelt it’ll bring tears to your eyes. All the characters are very human—in every awkward and messy sense of the word. It’s a very subtle Christmas film and perfect to watch before breaking out the usual holiday classics.
