Rihanna Returns to Music with New Single, “Lift Me Up”

After releasing her 8th studio album “ANTI” in 2016, Rihanna has finally made her return to music after a long 6-year break. Breaking the ice with a single titled, “Lift Me Up”, the popstar is only getting started.

Announced earlier this week, Rihanna’s return to music was the topic of discussion amongst fans, blogs, and even other celebrities. This isn’t the first time fans have speculated on new music from Rihanna. In fact, she initially began working on a reggae album that featured stars like Shaggy, Pharrell, and Koffee, but after the birth of her first child earlier this year, the pop star stated that she had been looking at the project entirely differently.

Before her long-awaited return, many fans thought the singer would never release any new music following the success of her makeup brand “Fenty Beauty”, released in 2017, and her lingerie line “Savage X Fenty”, which debuted in 2019. At that time, the 34-year-old became a business mogul and became the youngest self-made billionaire in 2021.

In a 2020 interview with “Entertainment Tonight, Rihanna put all doubt aside when she stated that she is always working on new music and that when she is ready to release it the way she wants to, she’ll put the music out. Although her last album was in 2016, Rihanna hasn’t been totally absent from music. The singer was featured in songs like DJ Khaled’s “Wild Thoughts” in 2017 and Kendrick Lamar’s “Loyalty” in the same year, but there is something special about her newest single.

“Lift Me Up”, which was co-written by Tems, Ludwig Goransson, and Rihanna herself is the lead single from the soundtrack of Marvel’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”. Ryan Coogler, the movie’s director, also co-wrote the song, and it pays tribute to Chadwick Boseman, the original “Black Panther”, who passed away in 2020.

The song has a memorable heavenly sound with Rihanna’s angelic vocals shining through. She is backed by a piano and minimal string instruments that give the single a complete emotional tune. The instrumental version was also released on Friday, and the song has received an outpouring of support from listeners around the world.

With her comeback single finally being released, no one has a clue what’s next for the pop star, but whatever it is, we will all be front and center!
