Things are Starting to Look Up

It has now been over a year since COVID-19 went into full effect and quarantine started. Looking back and seeing where we were and where we are now, I am happy to say that things are finally looking up. The COVID-19 vaccines are now being distributed to all adults and there is an increasing number in those choosing to get vaccinated.

I personally got vaccinated in January since I was considered an essential worker. I have since then received my second dose and am happy to say I am fully vaccinated.

Recently, my entire family has gone for their first dose of the vaccine. Soon enough, my entire family will be fully vaccinated and we will be able to resume some normal activities.

It is incredible that so many people have gotten vaccinated and that every adult is now able to get the vaccine as well. It is obviously a very personal choice to get the vaccine or not. I strongly encourage everyone to get vaccinated as soon as they are able to.

I did not have any side effects from the vaccine besides a sore arm, but that will differ from person to person. I choose to trust the science and have faith that getting the vaccine is the best choice.

I hope that by the time fall comes around, we will be in much better shape so that in person classes can fully resume. This fall will be my final semester at Saint Xavier and I hope to be able to finish my college experience on campus.

There are many things I miss about being on campus, like the delicious salads from the diner, and seeing my classmates. I just hope that I am able to be back on campus to finish the semester strong.

I also hope that I am able to have some type of graduation ceremony. It’s a shame that so many college students are not able to have the full graduation experience after having devoted years to their degree.

Again, it is all understandable given the circumstances, but it is still  disappointing. Nonetheless, Things seem to finally be getting better and I sincerely hope that it keeps progressing.

While it seems that everything is getting better, it is still important for people to wear masks and social distance when possible. If you are able to get the vaccine, I strongly encourage you to do so. The sooner we all become vaccinated, the sooner life will return to normal.
