Nail polish Has No Gender

The topic as to whether men should wear nail polish has taken over social media.

I have seen people argue on whether this is something only women do or is it an activity for anyone?

As a matter of fact, anyone should be allowed to wear nail polish without feeling like they are going to be judged by it.

More and more we see men wearing nail polish. The tricky part about this is that people assumed their sexuality. When in reality it should be no one’s business people’s lifestyles and sexual preferences.

Men who paint their nails get judged and receive mean comments and most times get bullied. They are called too “feminine” or people even use the word “gay” as if being gay was a negative thing.

While doing research, I discovered how men , especially warriors painted their nails before battle to instill fear in their enemies.

Also ancient societies wore nail polish to show their social status which was a gender less practice. It was normalized and the craziest fact is how Men were the main ones to wear nail polish, women did not wear nail polish until the 1800s. This reminds me of how men wore dresses and heels before women ever did.

We have to remember that gender is a social construct and it constantly changes depending on where we come from and how we see the world. There are no rules on exactly how to be a man or woman.

There are rules on how to treat others and respect everyone’s lifestyle though.

We have to remember that Wearing nail polish or taking care of one’s appearance has nothing to do with gender. It has to do with preferences and likes.

Men should be able to enjoy the process of Painting their nails. It’s an art and art is for everyone.
