Comfort Shows for the Stress and Cold

As the weather gets colder and school becomes more stressful, the only thing that brightens my day is looking forward to an amazing show to watch!

During quarantine I figured out that I have comfort shows that I always go back to in times of stress or difficult times. My number one comfort show would have to be Gilmore Girls. I go to that show for a nice fall vibe and the fact that nothing in that small town changes also brings a weird sort of comfort as well. I know what the plot of each episode is and where the storyline will take me. I also turn to some comedies as well, including: Friends, New Girl, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and The Nanny

These shows never fail to bring a smile to my face and often bring me back to  simpler times in life. They are simple comedies that share a familiarity and nostalgia  that makes times of chaos feel a little less stressful. It makes me feel at home whenever I see any of those shows on television. For a half hour the world seems to stop, and I do not have to think about the stresses in my life.

As midterms approach, the political election intensifies, and the virus is continuing to take over the world, I wanted to share some comfort shows with readers to bring some relaxation to your life.

Parks and Recreation, The Office, Friday Night Lights, Scrubs, Jane the Virgin, Queer Eye, Sister Sister, Boy Meets World, That’s So Raven, The Good Place Schitt’s Creek, Modern Family, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, One Day at a Time, Hannah Montana, George Lopez, Full House, Drake & Josh, Malcolm in the Middle Everybody Hates Chris

Remember that there is always an outlet in times that you may feel stressed or anxious. It is important to remember that no one feels like they have their life together at the moment. If you need time for yourself, make sure you prioritize that and sit down and watch a great show! Living through a historic time in history is scary and chaotic. This is a challenging time for everyone and there is a need for great television to take your mind off things. You can always turn to this list and see a fantastic comfort show that will get you through the day. Television is meant to be an outlet, so find something that resonates with you and enjoy the ride.
