Theatre Buzz: Yasmina’s Necklace

On Thursday October 26, the Goodman Theatre will be holding its second College Night event for the 2017/2018 season.

The play that will be featured is Yasmina’s Necklace, which is about an Iraqi artist named Yasmina (Susaan Jamshidi) who has just arrived to Chicago.

She has hardened herself to the possibility of finding happiness after fleeing to Chicago from her war-torn homeland but things change when Sam (Michael Perez), a man who has his own emotional setbacks, comes into the picture.

Yasmina’s Necklace was created by playwright Rohina Malik and the production is directed by Ann Filmer.

The critically-acclaimed production made its world premiere at the 16th Street Theatre last fall and was a 2016 Jeff Award nominee for Best New Work.        OakPark.com calls Yasmina’s Necklace “a unique American love story, hilarious yet deeply moving, profound and beautiful”.

College Night at the Goodman Theatre offers students the chance to join them at 6:00pm for a pre-show pizza party, discussion, and then a 7:30pm performance of the play in the Owen Theatre.

Tickets for students are just ten dollars and you can purchase them at https://www.goodmantheatre.org/collegenight. A valid student ID is also required.

The next and final College Night of the 2017/2018 season will be on February 15, 2018 so be sure to save the date!

The Goodman Theatre is located at 170 N. Dearborn in Downtown Chicago. For more information about the production, theatre, or the event, visit https://www.goodmantheatre.org/.
