Seems like one Disney villain has finally won after all. Kathryn Han who played Agatha Harkness from the hit Disney+ series WandaVision is reprising her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a spinoff series of her own. Agatha, a witch who was disguised as Wanda Maximoff’s nosey neighbor named Agnes, became a fan favorite villain when she battled against Wanda (the scarlet witch) in the final episode of WandaVision.
The show will center around Agatha’s story as a witch who survived the Salem witch trials back in the mid 1600’s. According to close Marvel sources, the series will be a dark comedy, but that is all the information we have so far. So, here are 3 things we need to see in the Agatha Harkness spinoff:
More information on Agatha’s origin story. By the end of the series there was one flashback shown of Agatha in the process of being prosecuted and accused of practicing dark magic in Salem Massachusetts witch trials. She is tied to a tree with other women standing around her, including her mother repeating an unknown chant. Agatha is then hit with the power of all surrounding witches, but none of it phases her, she then absorbs all of the powers from the witches leaving them dried out and deceased. This scene was truly one of my favorites and although it only gave us a quick look into her story, I have hopes that the new series will give us the story leading up to that scene in the finale. Hopefully, the directors will also show us how Agatha got involved with Wanda, to begin with.
How & why Agatha started practicing dark magic? Now that we were shown how and why Agatha got accused of witchcraft, it is now time for us to see how and why she started using craft, to begin with. Many questions left most of us asking how did Agatha become a witch? Which was not answered in the WandaVision series. Now it is only right that we see what made her so powerful, and what will come next in her intriguing story.
Where will Agatha’s character fall in the MCU timeline? There is no doubt that after we learn the origin of her story, we have to see where she will fall in the MCU timeline. We all know that both Marvel and Disney are creative when it comes to the storylines of a specific character. Marvel also has their ways of shifting timelines and leaving all of us to put everything in order. Seeing where Agatha falls in the timeline will leave fans (including myself) scrambling to see what comes next and how each story connects. Overall, although this spinoff series is something no one saw coming, we all can agree that this is something we don’t want to miss.
