Saint Xavier University’s Department of Student Media is pleased to announce the 2016 dates for its Media Summer Camp.

July 11th through July 15th, 10am-3pm focusing on Journalism.
July 18th through July 22nd, 10am-3pm focusing on Radio Broadcasting.

The SXU Student Media Summer Camp is divided into two sections, a Journalism section and a Radio Broadcasting section.

In the Journalism section, students will learn journalism skills such as news writing/reporting, editorial and features writing, and sports reporting. They will also participate in ethical discussions that focus on issues and problems that 21st century journalists face. They will then apply all of these skills and theories in creating their own edition of The Xavierite, the student newspaper of Saint Xavier University.

In the Radio Broadcasting section, students will learn broadcasting skills such as how to program their own radio program, research topics that will be discussed on-the-air, and begin developing their on-air persona. They will also learn about what issues and problems 21st century broadcasters face on a daily basis. They will then apply all of these skills and theories in programming WXAV 88.3FM and, the student radio station of Saint Xavier Unviersity for an entire day.

The SXU Student Media Summer Camp is open to all incoming high school freshmen through graduating seniors. Registration costs are:

Single Week: $150.00
Both Weeks: $275.00

Students can dress casually and are asked to bring a bag lunch Monday through Thursday. Lunch will be provided on Friday.
