vinelogoRemember when we were first introduced to Vine, the mobile, social media app that let users share six-second long videos with each other? Well, on Thursday, October 27th, Twitter announced in a Medium post, that they are discontinuing the app and shutting it down.

Ever since its launch in 2013, millions of creators have used Vine to share their creativity and make users laugh around the world. Many of users became popular after their Vines went viral and have become “Vine stars.” They are the ones that are probably taking this news the hardest.

There is good news though. Twitter also announced that they would not delete any posted Vines and users would be able to download their Vines. Twitter said they are doing this because they “value” their users. They also said they will keep the website alive so anybody can watch all the Vines that have been made.

Twitter ends the announcement with a thank you to all of its users. “To all the creators out there — thank you for taking a chance on this app back in the day.”

For four years, Vine has been making us laugh. Today, users are posting their favorite Vines on Twitter to mourn the “death” of Vine. Thank you, Twitter and Vine for making us laugh all this time.

#RIPVine
