This new album not only has some catchy upbeat sounds, but carries a significant meaning to lead singer/songwriter Tyler Glenn who says that it reflects his thoughts and his growth along with what he has dealt with for years.Glenn, 30, has spoken publicly about his difficult relationship with his religion as well as how accepting his family and friends were when he came out about his sexuality.
Glenn mentions his identity plays a big role in the album. With previous albums having a dark undertone, “Pop Psychology” is a celebration of embracing one’s self. This album has had major success in reaching the top of the charts in 2014. Along with their hit single “Sleeping With a Friend” sweeping the radio airways, Neon Trees has also headlined for “Good Morning America” .
“Pop Psychology” is a montage of POP art, comic and simply an awesome vibrant sound. I see Neon Trees becoming greater and more recognized in the near future. I respect Neon Trees for evolving their sound along with their look. I have respect for singer/songwriter Glenn for coming out and creating a positive movement and spreading great messages through the band’s music.
The album is truly a work of art that can illustrate the feeling of just being animated, enjoying life and embracing who you are as a person.
Lyrics from one of their songs “First Thing’s First” gives you the great quality of this album and the positivity it spreads with the lyric that says: “You are never gonna get/ Everything you want in this world/ First things first/ Get what you deserve.”
I think this pretty much explains the good vibes that Neon Trees is sending out into the world and the positive, meaningful messages they are sending to everyone. Definitely, the Neon Trees is worth looking into and hearing too.
